BIO
Singer/Songwriter Greg Dunkailo attributes his style of Americana songwriting to his Kentucky/Southern Ohio roots. He describes the area as "a melting pot of rock, bluegrass, roots and funk, creating an interesting synergy of musical style”. He's been described as a practical poet and enjoys that label explaining “people are looking for fun and love in the world. My goal is to capture that in my songs.”
Dunkailo’s career began with playing in small biker bars throughout Northern Kentucky. Greg muses that from California to New York City, he’s never played to tougher crowds. Growing tired of playing in cover bands Greg decided to invest the future of his career in writing and performing his own music and reasons “I learned a lot from playing covers, but there’s nothing more satisfying than knowing people enjoy songs I've written.”
As Greg’s passion for songwriting grew, so did his desire to promote original music. In 1998, Greg co-founded the Creative Music Alliance of Cincinnati (CMAC). As spokesman for CMAC, Greg booked bands in some of the best paying clubs in town creating record attendances at area clubs and propelling Greg’s career as CMAC was featured on Fox 19 WXIX, The Cincinnati Post and made Cincinnati City Beat’s list of top 100 events of 1998.
After releasing several songs with various bands, Greg released his first full-length CD entitled “i.am.the.verb.” in 2005. The feature song, “Pretty Pop Star” gained airplay on over 250 college rock stations throughout the U.S. and gave him the opportunity to be a featured artist at 2005's Midpoint Music Festival.
In 2009, Greg released the dark ballad "I'm Beginning to Think You Should" and is finishing his next full-length acoustic CD due in late 2009.
